Raí and his friend Leonardo had the dream of providing access
to education and culture for children and young people in vulnerable
situations. They closely studied work carried out by organisations
such as Instituto Ayrton Senna and Fundação ABRINQ.
In 1998 the Fundação Gol de Letra was born, today recognized by
UNESCO as a model institution.
The Fundação Gol de Letra was born in 1998 when Rai and Leonardo
realised their dream of providing access to education and culture for
children and young people in socially vulnerable situations.
They based their work on guidance received and orientation
given by renowned organisations such as the Instituto Ayrton Senna,
Cenpec, Casa Theatre and Fundação ABRINQ to assemble a team of
professionals and develop their own working methodology.
In 2001, Fundação Gol de Letra was recognized by UNESCO
as a model institution, and today serves more than 4600 children,
adolescents and young people between the ages of 7 and 30 in their
Vila Albertina (São Paulo) and Chestnut (Rio de Janeiro) centres
with sporting activities, art, culture, communication, leisure, citizenship
and education for work that contribute to the personal, social, cultural
and educational development of the participants, alongside the close
involvement of families and local communities.
