The organisation Atletas pelo Brasil, which was founded in 2006,
is a non-profit association that brings together Brazilian athletes from different
generations and sporting areas for the improvement of sports and social
progress of the country.

The initiative, hitherto globally unprecedented, aims to develop
a sporting culture in Brazil via the development of advocacy programs that
influence public policy, widen knowledge through research and studies, create
communication action, campaigns and events, apart from transforming the lives
of Brazilians via valuing sport as a means for national development.
